Write multiplication equations for arrays

A 5×5 grid of digits reads 5 2 1 5 3 / 8 9 2 8 2 / 8 7 7 4 9 / 6 6 2 0 1 / 4 8 3 2 7 by rows. Take four cells neighbouring along one row or column, read the first two as factors and the last two joined as a two-digit number; the group is valid when the product matches. Strategy Make a Systematic List — There is only a small, finite number of straight four-cell windows: each row has 2 horizontal windows (columns 1-4 and 2-5) and each column has 2 vertical windows (rows 1-4 and 2-5), so 20 windows in all. We list every window, read off a x b and the two-digit number, and check the multiplication fact. Testing each candidate window is plain guess-and-check with the times tables.
