Three line graphs show buses A, B and C, each as the distance still to go against time: A drops fast then stays flat above zero, B falls in one straight line to zero, C falls in a staircase with three flat stretches before reaching zero. Five claims are made: (1) B arrives first, (2) C stopped 3 times, (3) B kept speeding up, (4) A broke down partway, (5) C travelled further than B. Find every claim that is wrong.

Strategy Draw a Diagram — Each statement is a claim about the shape of a line graph, so I read the diagram directly: where a line is flat the bus is stopped, where it is steep the bus is fast, and where it touches 0 the bus has arrived. I judge each of the five statements true or false against the graph and collect the false ones. The five statements form a genuine finite set to test one by one (eliminate).

The two false statements are the two that confuse time with speed or distance: (3) reads a steady straight fall as 'speeding up', and (5) reads C's longer time as longer distance. Statements (1), (2), (4) each describe the visible shape correctly (B arrives first, C has 3 flat stops, A is stuck flat). Picking exactly (3) and (5) is consistent.
